This varied route offers wonderful views of Italy and crosses three mountain ranges: Ortler, Sesvenna, and Umbrail Alps. Many marmot colonies are found along the trail to the rest stop Val Mela. Luckily, there are alternative small lakes in the upland moor. At 1,800 meters (5,905 feet), they warm up to 20\u00b0C (68\u00b0F) in summer. The most famous one is Lake Staz.
